Brief Answer:
This much history alone does not indicate MS

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com
I am Dr. Ajay Panwar, a neurologist, here to answer your query.

History of pins and needles with numbness on face and extremities, alone is not sufficient to hint for MS. MS is a relapsing remitting illness in which neurological deficits may occur recurrently. Neurological deficits may be paralysis, vision loss, eye movement abnormalities. Although sensory presentation is also a feature, but such symptoms diffusely( as head, face and arms in your case) alone, may not be characteristic for MS. So, only these symptoms in presence of normal MRI of braine and spine will not suggest MS.

Hope that helps. If you have follow up questions, I shall be glad to answer them.

Dr.Ajay Panwar,

thank you so much for your answer, it explains a lot. ive had often weakness that comes and goes on either side of my body. the pins and needles in limbs and face arent there all the time they are here and there. another thing thats been happening has been i have this intense pressure at the back of my head when i sit down, qnd i get dizzy turning my head left to right when sitting. i am just wondering if i am putting pressure on my spine while i sit because I have the cyst in c6 and if this could cause the pressure at the back of my head? thank you

Brief Answer:
Please upload MRI Spine.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for being in follow-up.

C6 cyst is less likely to cause headache at the back of head. Please upload MRI images of cervical spine so that I can see the cyst and have an opinion about the same.

If you have more queries, I shall be glad to have you in follow up.

Answered by Dr. Ajay Panwar (7 hours later)
Brief Answer:
This cervical lesion is unlikely to cause the pressure at the back of head.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being in follow-up.

I could see there is a hyperintensity in cervical cord opposite C6- which may be a syrinx or a cyst. What is the radiologist's opinion? Besides, whatever it is, it is unlikely to cause the pressure at the back of head.

Hope that helps. If you have any further questions, I shall be glad to have you in follow-up. Please leave a review if I resolved your queries.

It measures about 13mm in craniocaudal length and about 4 x 4mm in cross section. It could explain the patient's symptoms. Post-contrast scans do not show any abnormal enhancement. Possible causes include post trauma and idiopathic. No Chiari Type 1 malformation. Central canal is capacious. No focal disc protrusion. Neuroforamina normal.  No exiting nerve root compression. Facet joints unremarkable. Conclusion Syringomyelia at C6. Thank you for referring this patient. Dr. XXXXXXX Thong ng not sure how to manage this.. i have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia as well so i have beeb trying hydrotherapy for that, but have constant neck pain and dizziness here and there when sitting. next year i have a full spinal scan with contrast that my neurologist here ordered. thanks

Brief Answer:
This syrinx is less likely to be the cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being in follow-up.

This syrinx is less likely to be the cause of your constant neck pain and dizziness. I suggest that a neurological examination for maneuvers for dizziness evaluation should be performed. Thyroid function tests should also be sent. Further, try to seek a physiotherapist's opinion for your symptoms. He may prove to be of help to you.

Answered by Dr. Ajay Panwar (11 hours later)
Brief Answer:
May be Fibromyalgia

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being in follow-up.
Syrinx is less likely to be the cause. Fibromyalgia is a better possibility here, if other causes have been ruled out. Fibromyalgia is specifically diagnosed on the basis of diffuse tender points throughout the body including neck, back, knees, hips, elbows, shoulders. Other causes are also excluded before concluding the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia.

Hope that helps. If you have any further questions, I shall be glad to have you in follow-up.
