Brief Answer:
Did you do a urine culture before starting antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Hi..... I understand your concern. But any suspected urinary tract infection should be proceeded with a urine routine and if this is suggestive of urinary tract infection, urine culture should be performed so that we will know the exact organism and also to what antibiotic the organism would respond. But urine culture should be done before starting antibiotics. Please get back to me with the information whether a urine culture has been performed or not. Moreover before starting an antibiotic like Amikacin the renal function test should have been done.

Brief Answer:
Excellent - fever will take another 48-72 hours to settle

Detailed Answer:
Hi.... greetings from XXXXXXX Fever will take another 48-72 hours to settle down if it is urinary tract infection. This will be proven by culture report.

But if the urine culture is sterile or if it is showing insignificant growth, then it is not urinary tract infection and could be a viral illness. In that case you can stop the antibiotic. Viral illness usually settles in 5-7 days.
