Question: My wife is having pain in her ovaries. We did a transvaginal ultrasound, the report is attached. There is a cyst as detected by ultrasound.
I wanted to get your opinion on this.
What could be the best cure and what could have been the possible causes.

Periods are irregular, 2 days menstruation every week since last 2 years.
Last menstrual period was on 29th March.
The scan was done on the 2nd day of the cycle.
Apart from pain, nausea, urge to vomit, cramps in ovaries.
No past history of cysts in family.

See, there are various causes of ovarian cysts.
In this case, the commonest reason is functional cyst - due to hormonal imbalance.
The follicle which grows and ruptures each month ( ovulation ) is disturbed due to hormonal imbalance, leading to a cyst within the ovary.
Most such functional cysts resolve on their own within a few months.
SO a repeat scan should be done after 2 - 3 months.
The next possible reason is endometriosis.
Does she have painful periods, irregular spotting or pain during intercourse ?
IF yes, endometriosis is likely.
In that condition, further treatment such as hormones or surgery maybe needed.
SO if the cyst is simply due to hormonal imbalance, it will dissolve on its own within 2 -3 months.
If it persists or increases in size, other reasons such as endometriosis or infection can be considered, and further investigations can be done.
Taking oral contraceptive pills for 2 months will increase chances of the cyst disappearing on its own.

Yes she is having painful periods, irregular spotting and pain during intercourse since last 2 years. She is also vitamin D deficient right now.
