I am supposed to be 6wks4d pregnant. Last Wednesday we saw a gestural sac, yolk sac and fetal pole. Everything measured right on time. This week we were expected to see a heartbeat but we didn't. Hcg has doubled since last visit, went from 6k to 40k. However my doc isn't giving me much hope, stating with high hcg lvl's we should have seen a heartbeat. I asked if it's a good sign that the levels are still doubling but was told no. That's contradicting everything we read. Do you have any ideas?

doctor1 MD

Brief Answer:
Heart beat should have been seen by now

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns.

Miscarriage is a possibility as heart beat should have been seen by now if transvaginal ultrasound scan was performed.

Transvaginal ultrasound scan detects heartbeat generally by 6 weeks and bet...

Hey just curious. I had a transvaginal ultrasound two weeks ago and right after had pain in pressure suddenly on the left side of my pelvic area where I never had any pain or pressure before, ever!!! The cyst was on my right ovary and since the transvaginal ultrasound, its like she tweaked a muscle or something on my left groin area but when I walk now I get cramping feeling in my lower left side (never before the ultrasound)
It feels like pulled muscle some days, burning sensation in my groin area on left or it moves up along left side seems like my desending colon area or something with cramp feeling.
Any idea what is happening and if so how long before it might go away?
Could it be a muscle or nerve that got tweaked? I cant believe this is happening, went to see how right ovary was doing with cyst and now I have pain pressure on otherside and it happened like 30 seconds after it ended started feeling pressure.
And to top it off the cyst has resolved.
Thoughts?

doctor1 MD

Brief Answer:
it could be a tweaked nerve

Detailed Answer:

I had an endometrium thickness of 10.1 mm on 6 weeks 3 days of gestational age after IVF. But the TVS could not identify any gestational sac or fetal pole. The OS was closed. Myometrial pathology and adnexal pathology was nil. The beta-hcg level was 4917. What am I to expect? Will there be any ectopic pregnancy? Another TVS has been advised after seven days.

Ectopic pregnancy should be ruled out

My health situation:

Age:45
Sex:Female
Height: 165cm
Weight: 58 kg (Notice weight gained from 52 kg to 58 kg in the last 12 months)
Marital Status: Never married, do not have any kids. No sex experience (due to religion).
Occupation: IT systems analyst
Monthly period: every 28 days, usually it comes on time, only once in a while it is early/late by one day. Each period lasts for approx. 5 days. The amount is normal except on 2nd day which has a bit more blood.
My last period: Started on 17th May and ended on 22nd May.
My next period: Expected to start on 13th or 14th of Jun (ie. 3 or 4 days from today)

Health issue:
* bloating (my tummy is big as if I am 4-month pregnant);
* easily feel full after meal;
* constipation (having poo once every 4 days with Type2 or Type3 pool according to Bristol Stool Chart,
* feeling occasionally dull pain & pressure inside lower abdomen sometimes on the left, sometimes in middle, sometimes on the right. such feeling occurs a few times a day, each time last for less than 1 second. Sometimes I may not notice the dull pain / slight pressure in it unless I pay attention to it. I am sure the pain/pressure comes from inside and not outside of my tummy.
* does not feel any pain during pelvic exam by doctor

See uploaded report of transabdominal ultrasound.

Follow-up Tests
I saw one gynaecologist today who suggested me to have CA-125 blood test and CT scan.

I would like to know your advice on what other tests required before determining what type of surgery & treatment I need? What about transvaginal ultrasound or MRI scan?

And for CA-125 blood test, should I wait until my next period is over?

doctor1 MD
