Brief Answer:
suggestive of iron deficiency anaemia

Detailed Answer:
Dear
I can understand your concern .
I would like to inform you that low mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) that is less than 32.3 and increased red cell distribution width (RDW) that is more than 14.5% is very suggestive of iron deficiency anaemia .
It's very common form of anaemia specially in females and may be caused of chronic blood loss or hook work infestation etc.
To confirm the diagnosis you need to get iron studies done that will include serum ferritin, total iron binding capacity, percentage saturation and serum iron etc. This will clearly tell about iron deficiency anaemia and then you can start taking iron supplements under supervision of your physician .
Hope this will help you .
If you have any other concerns please feel free to message me . Thanks for contacting HCM .

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Does anemia and a prolonged clotting disorder go hand in hand at all? (sorry for the stupid question) Also if it is anemia would having blood in my urine be cause for concern? I think the blood in my urine is from irritation as i had surgery on 1/13/15 and they left the foley XXXXXXX in because after surgery i was having issues urinating, sorry for the long back story, but the question again is If it is anemia would having blood in my urine be cause for concern?

Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Presence of blood is not directly related to anemia....

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
There is no need for sorry dear.
I am here to answer your queries .

Blood in urine specially after foleys catheterisation is more suggestive of some infection of urinary tract that need to be diagnosed and is very common .
Anaemia is simply low hemoglobin level. Yes there are another components in blood that we call platelets and certain clotting factors responsible for clotting .
Some times anaemia may be associated with low platelet count and may give rise to increase bleeding or clotting time.
Clotting factors are synthesised in liver and in liver disorders their function get affected .
But in you case I think it's urinary tract infection and you have appreciated this well.
Get your urine checked for any infection and take appropriate treatment after that.
Hope this will help you . If you have any other concerns please feel free to message me . Thanks for contacting HCM .
