Brief Answer:
SEEMS TO BE LYME.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having brain spasms with ringing in ears. I would like to ask you few more details.

- Is there any dizzy spells or hearing loss or ear discharge ?

Kindly get back to me with the details.

Based on your clinical details and reports, it appears to be late consequences of lyme or cervical spondylitis.

1. Need Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) are two of the tests that can identify abnormalities in the brain of a patient affected with lyme disease.

2. Hearing tests- PURE TONE AUDIOGRAM AND IMPEDENCE AUDIOMETRY- senile deafness common at 60, can cause ringing sensation in ears).

3. IgM and IgG antibody levels may be elevated for years even after successful treatment with antibiotics (lyme disease). so, these tests are mandatory (MRI/SPECT).

3. Kindly discuss with your treating doctor, about these investigations.

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.

Good morning and thank you for responding.

Affirmative, I was hospitalized for vertigo on return from my third deployment in 2010. Had my hearing tested and was prescribed withe hearing aides for both ears. I take anti very regularly.

In terms of Lymes Disease, as a result of the blood test you were provided with, I began an antibiotic protocol of Doxicycline 200 mg BID for 30 days and have only one week remaining. Although, I feel no change regarding the brain spasms, vertigo, intense pressure in the back of my neck and base if skull.

It is your impression that these ax are XXXXXXX on set Lymes Disease.

I greatly appreciate your medical opinion and will share this with my doctor.

Respectfully,
XXXXXXX E. Zimmerman, PhD

Brief Answer:
Antibiotic resistence.

Detailed Answer:

Hello again,

Thanks for considering my answer and for your follow up.

Your symptoms (vertigo, neck spsms, radiating pain to skull) denotes cervical spondylitis. Anyway, tests for antibiotic resistence and above mentioned investigations (MRI & SPECT) will give you proper diagnosis.

All the best. Take care.
