Brief Answer:
Avoid alcohol

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
I am Dr Mittal
The effect of alcohol on the liver is quite evident.

In saying so, I am assuming that you have not had alcohol in the last 5 days, in view if your fever.
I will seriously suggest you get out of that habit as soon as you can.
i will also suggest testing a usg of the abdomen.

Could they diagnose a cause for fever? if not, these tests could also suggest typhoid considering your other symptoms besides fever. suggest testing widal test.

best of luck

Hi Dr Mittal,

Thanks for the response. I dont intend to take alcohol surely for sometime and hopefully for a long time. How can i get the numbers to normal levels? What is advised to eat and drink and what not to? My fever had was peaking at 102/103 levels night time 2-3 days back but for last 48 hours is at 99-99.5 levels. The red rash is also subsiding. I had not ran and exercised for last 1-2 months due to work and plan to pick on that once the fever is through and body able to take it. I am "trying to aim" at a situation wherein i get the levels back in control first. Please guide me on how to do so.

Thanks, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Needs more reports

Detailed Answer:
Liver usually heals itself
So if the raised numbers are alcohol induced, they will come back to normal as soon as the alcohol is stopped. In that case you can try again in a week's time.
If the numbers are raised, due to say an infection, we will have to wait for the infection to settle before the numbers get normal.
I will suggest testing Widal, Typhi DoT IgM/IgG and a USG abdomen.

As for food and drink, take your normal food and drink. Of course, better to avoid oils and spices. No medicines may be needed as of now to bring down the numbers

Best of luck

Dear Dr Mittal
Thanks very much. I appreciate your advise. I had got tests done for dengue, Measles, Typhoid and Malaria as well and all were negative. Which other tests would to recommend considering Typhoid has been tested as well. Also, could this be a case of 'fatty lever' sir? In which case should i be specific on eating or drinking anything healthy? my current medication is on for another 2-3 days till the fever and allergy goes completely. i surely dont intend any alcohol for next 2 months minimum and more as required. I was planing to get LFT done again after 2 weeks. Lastly, could the medication also influence the LFT level numbers? what is USG abdomen please.
Thanks and regards - XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Explained further

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
I had been thinking of fatty liver when I suggested doing the usg- ultrasound of the abdomen. And yes, you should eat completely normally till your further reports except for oils and spices.

Testing LFt in 2 weeks is ok. You asked how soon I can do it, and so I suggested 1 week. 2 weeks is absolutely fine too.

as for alcohol, best to avoid it as long as possible. raised enzymes and fatty liver is just the first stage of the long process of liver damage, And happily enough, this is the stage where the damage done so far is reversible.
So avoid alcohol, not just for 2 months, but longer.

Best of luck
Dr Mittal
