Brief Answer:
Rule out false positive with Western blot test

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.

How many test you had for HIV? ICMA test and a Rapid test?
Your index value is just reactive.
Another test came as HIV 1&2 nonreactive. That means your test is not conclusive.
It is better to wait for another 15 days and have a western blot test. That will be more conclusive. Don't get anxious. False positive results are not uncommon.

Hello Doctor ,
Thank you so much for your help .I don't know whether the follow up question is going through , this is he third time I am trying .

I had MMR vaccination and tetanus vaccination about 20 minutes before the blood was drawn for HIV testing, does that have an impact on the test results . I have a baby who is 1 year and 4 month old and I didn't have sex after I was pregnant that was almost 2.5 years back and I didn't have sex with my husband nor with anyone else after the baby was born .In other words I haven't any kind of sexual relationship with anyone for about 2.5 years .When I was pregnant they had tested for HIV and it was negative . My world has been turned upside since the results came ...doctors have taken another blood test whose results are expected tomorrow . I am really concerned why this is happening .

Brief Answer:
Recent vaccination do influence HIV test results

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome BACK.

I can understand your concern.

Of course recent vaccination have effects on HIV test and false positives are likely. But not with something given 20 minutes back?
1.Have they tested for your husband
2. What for they had taken HIV test this time?
3. You had no sex during last 2.5 years. Your HIV test during your pregnancy was negative. There might be a possibility of HIV positive result this time if your last sex was within 3 months of your HIV test during pregnancy.
But chances are more for a false positive result with the present test and your next confirmatory test report will relieve your tension.

Thanks once again Doctor .

I haven't had any sexual intercourse in the last 2.5 years .Last time was 2.5 years ago . I had gone to he doctor for getting the doctors report for immigration purposes and they suggested just to take this as well even though HIV test was not required .Not because I was exposed .

Brief Answer:
Possibility of false positive test is more

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome

What about your husband's HIV test result? Done or not?
If your husband's result is negative for HIV, there is every possibility of your test could be a false positive one. The subsequent HIV report would clear everything.
