What Does A Rash In Groin Area Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 5 Mar 2015
Question: I have this tiny rash in my groin area, next to my penis. The skin is irritated, almost like I burned it.
It start a few moths ago. Both of my parents have psoriasis. I don't, but I have pretty sensitive skin so I didn't think much of a few itchy spots. After a few weeks when they didn't go away, I started using some anti-fungal cream to see if it helped, but I didn't take it too seriously. When that wasn't really working, I started taking it a little more seriously and have been using Zeasorb powder for the last almost 4 weeks. It seemed like it was going away but this morning, out of the blue, after the shower the area suddenly got irritated again. I'm getting stressed about it, so I know that isn't helping.
I have no other symptoms of anything otherwise. No sores, no scabs, no puss, nothing on the penis itself, no indications of anything viral like a fever, no discharge from anywhere. I am sexually active, but I figured if this was an STD there would have been more to it than a tiny irritated spot in my groin.
Any thoughts?

Brief Answer:
A picture will be helpful...

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking Health care magic forum.

I have gone through your query. Possibility of syphilitic chancre should be ruled out

If you send me a picture of the lesion then it will be more helpful in identifying it. In case of psoriasis there will be silvery appearance and scaling. Single lesion with burnt appearance can be syphilitic chancre also. It is diagnosed by dark-field microscopy of lesion or by serologic testing. It will be painless and if with out treatment the syphilis will go to secondary stage.

Chancre is diagnosed by a single lesion with history of unprotected intercourse itself. Even if there is negative result antibiotic is given. Injections of penicillin G or Doxycycline orally for two weeks is given for this.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.

Thanks.
I had every intention of sending you a picture, but the irritation was already gone by 5pm today. At midnight with the bright light of my bathroom I can barely make out the smallest spot where the problem was. If I sent you a picture, I would probably have to circle the area for you to see it.

Something serious wouldn't come and go like that, I don't think. My thought is still a fungal or yeast infection of some kind.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Brief Answer:
you can use miconazole ointment
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for your follow up query.

If it is fungal or yeast infection some more potent antifungal agents as ointments or cream form will help you. Zeasorb is miconazole powder and instead you can use miconazole ointment or terbinafine ointment which will be more helpful.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks
