What Does A Low Platelet Count When Diagnosed With Chicken Pox Indicate?

Question: Hi,
My Wife Suffering from Chicken Pox ..We have taken consultation from doctor and giving medicines as prescribed- Famtrex-250/Multi Vitamin-Zincovit and other allergic/digestive .
One month before i had done CBC of my wife and also yesterday we had done CBC to check any change..Only concern or change notices is platelet drop from 297 to 190..

Please check and let me know if need to be bothered or some special check required or its only due to chicken pox and will regroup back to previous.

Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.

Platelet count can reduce in any viral infection including chickenpox.

Another important thing to be noticed is that the platelets are within normal range and this value would be different every time you get the test done..

I don't find any reason to worry if your doctor is sure that this is Chickenpox and not Dengue.

Just carry on with the medicines and for mental piece you can get her blood test for platelet count repeated after 2 days.
