Brief Answer:
Injection is to prevent further bone thinning.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have seen all the attached reports. Your mother has very thin bones due to menopause and age and had a compression fracture in the spine. She also has degenerative changes in the back. Her calcium levels are too low. The cause of low back pain is the disc prolapse at various levels and the old fracture.
The injection that has been given is to prevent the further bone loss and bone thinning. She has been given pain killers and muscle relaxants to take care of the back muscle spasm. She is right now getting the right treatment. She needs some bed rest and a hot compress in case the back pain is severe. Applying local analgesic gel like Volini gel will also help. Doing regular physiotherapy after the pain subsides will also help in preventing further deterioration of the condition.
I hope this answers your query.

Hi Doctor,

Thank you for the prompt reply.

I would like to know is she suppose to start taking Terifrac injections?

These injections as per the prescription needs to be taken for 1 and half year, 1 injection daily. is this the only solution besides taking pain killers?

Such a prolonged injection was the cause of my worry. Kindly suggest. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
She can strat with Terifrac injections.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Her bone density is already very low. She can start taking the injections and get the bone density re checked after 3 months to see the progress. In case there is a good progress then we can decide about further course of treatment.
Hope my answer is helpful.
