Hello

Welcome and thanks for posting your query to the forum.

I can understand your concern for cluster of dark red blisters upper inner thigh. After reading your query it appears that your upper inner thigh is secondarily infected due to inflammation of hair root. This is quite a common phenomenon where due to friction the hair roots gets inflamed and therefore the local bacteria enters into the skin leading to infection and therefore redness and tenderness around it.

In view to help you best I request you to kindly let me know since how long you have this problem. How it started ( have you seen any boil kind of thing to start with). Also kindly let me know the grade of tenderness(pain) and itching on a scale of 1 to 10. Have you taken any medications for the same.

Hope to hear soon from your side.

Hi Doc, So you don't believe its Herpes? I was sure it was some form of Herpes infection. Did you get the picture I attached? I noticed the cluster of blisters two days ago. It wasn't as bad looking as it is now. At the site of the infection, It's more of a tender/swollen sensation than a painful one. My Lymph Nodes are pretty sore/tender too. I'm not sure how it started, I just noticed the cluster of red blisters(they just appeared). Do you suggest I need medication?

Thanks,

Brief Answer:
A course of antibiotic with pain killer tablets

Detailed Answer:
Hello young fellow,

Welcome again to the forum and thanks for sending important details.

After reanalyzing your history of cluster of blister formation two days back I would like to keep possibility herpes as one of the cause of secondary infection and formation of sore.

There can be both the causes of the ulcer formation either due to infection and inflammation by friction by its present appearance in picture or due to herpes also because of history of blisters.

I suggest you to go for Herpes Ig M and Ig G antibody test to rule out the possibility of herpes. IN such case a course of antiviral tablet would be required.

I can make out that the area is deeply red and ulcerated. In such a appearance it should be treated with a course of antibiotic with pain killer tablets. I suggest you to immediately meet your treating primary care physician so that an antibiotic therapy should be started.

The lymph nodes are swollen due to the ulcer formation and inflammation at the skin site. It is usual to find lymph node enlargement due to such kind of clinical appearance. In my patients with such a problem I suggest to take a pain killer tablet such as Ibuprofen or Diclofenac by mouth for two to three times in day after meals till a close physical examination is done by a doctor. Since ibuprofen is available over the counter, you can start of with it and plan to visit the doctor. Till that time do not try to pinch, pop or squeeze the area. An antibiotic cream containing mupirocin or fucidin in thin layer also helps in early healing.

Avoid friction of the area and wear lose clothes which should not touch and irritate the area.

I hope these information will help you. I will be glad to answer any further of your queries.

Wish you good health.
