default
Posted on Tue, 20 Jun 2017
Question: 41 days late for period. All negative pregnancy tests. Increased sebum produced on face and scalp. Breakouts on face. Hormone levels came back normal so can rule out high levels of testosterone. Slight increase on weight (7lbs) feeling extremely anxious and can be easily agitated...have come off contraceptive pill in December. Is this normal adjusting of my system or should i get more tests done?

Brief Answer:
Information

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

When a woman has gone without a period for 3 months we start to investigate what might be going on. But the first step, and even sooner than 3 months, is to give a short course of a progestin such as Provera. If there has been enough estrogen present, which is usually the case, then in a day or two after you finish the Provera, you will have a withdrawal bleed menstrual period. This will likely relieve the symptom you are having.

For a variety of reasons such as stress, the body doesn't actually ovulate when it is supposed to. Then the body stays in a sort of state of limbo of trying to ovulate but not and the normal hormonal cycle doesn't take place.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information.
