What Causes Vertigo, Lower Left Back Pain, Dizziness And Difficulty In Concentrating?

default
Posted on Sat, 3 Jan 2015
Question: Hi - I have been experiencing a multitude of symptoms for a couple of months. Started with vertigo, lower left back pain, dizziness and now difficulty concentrating. I don't have a temp. After being up I get headaches and weakness. I was checked and my normal blood work seemed ok. One doc mentioned it was like mono but the blood work did not confirm. I have been having blood pressure issues - only noticed a month ago (158/90). I am on 6mg of coversyl. My dizziness, back pain and slight confusion are most of my concern. Any thoughts. I am 51. I have just had a cat scan as I had a bad concussion a couple of years ago. No results yet. My email is YYYY@YYYY

Detailed Answer:
HI

Greeting from Dr. Divakara.P
First of all thanks for choosing Healthcaremagic for posting your query.

First I will talk about your Vertigo/dizziness and difficulty in concentration.

There are many causes for Dizziness, from simple and easily treatable causes to serious causes .

Simple causes are :

1. Abnormalities in BP: Both high and low BP can cause dizziness.
2. Abnormalities in Blood sugars: Both high and low Blood sugars can cause dizziness.

3. Abnormalities in blood sodium levels.
4. Low Hemoglobin ( Anemia )
5. Inner Ear problems .
6. Thyroid disorders:
7. Vitamin Deficiency :

Some serious problems are :

1. Heart Problems
2: Brain problem

In your case , high BP is one possible cause of Dizziness . So kindly get your BP re-checked and if it's high ask your doctor to adjust the dose of Coversyl. A blood pressure of 140/80 or less is desirable .

Also get your Hemogobin , Serum Vitamin B12 , Serum Sodium levels, Serum TSH checked and if they are normal get a ECG and a ENT check up done . You have mentioned your blood work was normal . Kindly upload the reports so that I can tailor the tests.

Coming to your Lower left back ache it could be due to muscular spasm , Intervertebral disc prolapse, kidney stone/infection or due to spinal Problems. I advise you to get X ray Lumbar spine and urine routine test and revert back to me .

Also let me know what did you CAT scan reveal.

Also I am very sorry to mention that it is not allowed to directly post the reply to patient's ID hence kindly co-operate.

Revert back to me with the test reports asked.

Any clarifications feel free to ask .
