What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After Sexual Intercourse, Sore Throat And Fever?

default
Posted on Fri, 3 Jul 2015
Question: Hello,
I am a 41 year old woman who used a vibrator yesterday, with my husband while having sex. It was larger than usual and since then I noticed bleeding from my vagina. The trick is that I also expected my period this week so not sure if the two are related and a coincidence. I also have a sore throat and feel under the weather so I have a slight fever today 37.5. I am not sure if I need to present myself to a doctor.
We are leaving tomorrow morning for a trip out of the country and my concern is - could we have possibly damaged my vagina where I need medical treatment?

Brief Answer:
Consult your physician for a direct examination.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.

The chances of injury to the vagina are present. If the continuous bleeding is manageable and is small in amount then it is likely to be your period. In case the bleeding is intermittent and bright red with a painful vagina or soreness in the area then an injury needs to be ruled out after a physical examination.

The mild fever and sore throat that you have is likely to be a mild viral infection that can subside with acetaminophen and steam inhalation.
