Posted on Thu, 11 Aug 2016
Question: my husband is 59 and has been sick with for 5 weeks. it started with 102.8 fever, which lasted the weekend, after that he has zero energy. He was walking 3 to 4 miles a day ; he cannot even do that anymore. He decided IN SEPTEBER 2015 TO lose weight. He has lost over 35 lbs. We were proud, but now concerned. He was very active now cannot doing anything because he is exhausted all the time . Since we live in a wooded area he was tested for lymn twice...both negative. He had a CT of his lungs. It showed no Cancer BUT it did show some enlarged lymph nodes.

Brief Answer:
Weight loss -investigation

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Since he is losing weight much more than intended and feeling exhausted with progressive weakness and CT lung showing some enlarged lymph nodes, other possibility is Tuberculosis. A mantoux test and The QuantiFERON -TB Gold blood test can be done along with ESR & C-reactive protein(preferably h-CRP).
An ultrasonography (USG) abdomen should also be done,if not undertaken already,to look for enlarged abdominal lymph nodes/other organs state.
Kindly upload all investigations he has undergone so far,if possible.

Dr. T.
