What Causes Tightness In The Abdominal Area After Colostomy Surgery?

Question: My Mom had a colostomy surgery two weeks ago. She had her exterior stitches removed a few days ago. She is however still experiencing severe tightness in her abdominal area. Is there anything she can do to relieve this tightness?

Severe tightnes in abdomen post colostomy can be due to constipation.So in case if stool output is less Laxatives like Lactulose can be use to make stools pass easily.

Another possible reason can e a developing hernia.
"The most common cause of side pain in people with a colostomy stoma is a hernia, reports the XXXXXXX Cancer Society". A hernia occurs when a muscle in the abdominal wall tears, and intestines or other organs bulge out through the tear, sometimes forming a lump under the skin.
An ultrasound should be done to rule out these possibilities.

Is the pain and tightness there in area whee stiches are removed?

See healing of wound will take its natural time however rate of healing can be increased by giving some vitamin and wound healing promoter medications.

Advice
TrypsiongenChymoral forte) should be given thrice daily to promote early wound healing.
A combination of diclofenac with serratiopeptidase should be given to subside inflammation and pain.

Vitamin C,Folic acid and B complex should be taken to promote early wound healing.

Please discuss with your gastroenterologist.
