What Causes Sudden Shooting Pain In Vagina And Rectum?

default
Posted on Mon, 20 Jul 2015
Question: I suddenly starting having shooting pain in my vagina and rectum, it is not a cramp or muscle pain, but more kind of stabbing or like electric shocks. I am recovering from a diverticulitis attack, so thought it might be related to my bowels being so loose, but don't understand how that would affect my vagina. No pain when I pee or poo. The episodes last anywhere from 20 seconds to 15 minutes. I am post menopausal, and had a hysterectomy 15 years ago, so don't think it is anything related to those areas.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be due to muscle spasm

Detailed Answer:
hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms

Going by description of shooting pain involving rectum and vagina its likely to be due to spasm of perineal muscle. It could be due to Proctalgia fugax , or non specific muscle spasm
Following are predisposing factors

1. Stress

2. Associated constipation

3. Post-menopausal state

I would suggest you the following

1. Hot Seitz bath: To a tub of lukewarm water add handful of common table salt. Sit in it for 15 to 20 minutes each session twice a day. It will help relax the muscle

2. Routine assessment by your primary care physician

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you

Take Care
