Brief Answer:
Mucosal ulcers and mild bone marrow suppression

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Jyothi BL and I will be answering your query.

Based on your clinical history and query, my opinion is as follows:

1. It is very mild drop in hemoglobin, and for your age, it is still within normal limits. A 20 or 30 drop would have been significant (2g-3g%)
2. Mucosal ulcers in Crohns disease could be leading to bleeding in gut leading to anemia is one possible explanation.
3. Second explanation or additional cause could be mild suppression of bone marrow leading to reduced production of cells due to oral cortisone.

Hope it helps

Brief Answer:
Improve nutrition. Do not stop medication.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking again.

Do not stop the medication.

You can add eggs, fish, red meat into your diet in moderate amounts along with green leafy vegetables.

Next time when you are getting a lab test done, get an additional reticulocyte count and fecal blood test done.
