Question: HI
I became anemic after having lung cancer and am free now but about a year afterward I had to have an iron infusion. I have factor V Leiden and am on Warfarin. That was in 2011. I've been anemic since then and my Doctor says it has worsened to the point that it is dangerous. What to do? XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Seek help from hematology

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your current issue.

I am assuming you had chemo which is your source of anemia.

You may want to look into getting a bone marrow transplant so you should consult with a hematologist who specializes in blood cells.

The other common causes of anemia are chronic, long term, microscopic bleeding. You should have a colonoscopy to help determine the cause

Otherwise, anemia is a very complex disease, especially after cancer.

I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
blood work

Detailed Answer:
I see.

Do you have any recent blood work that you can share with me? Such as a reticulocyte count, hemoglobin, haptoglobin, iron levels, ferritin, B12, and MCV.

If not, that would be the next step!
