Question: This AM took a bite of cereal and all heck broke loose. Felt my whole body was shocked and knew my BP was dropping and had a BP machine by my computer so at 5:45 AM I took my BP and looked at the clock again and it said 5:55 AM and my BP was 78/45 so I took it again and it was 97/55 but do not know where the 10 minutes went. The palms of my hands, the soles of my feet, lips, roof of my mouth were all on fire and I do mean burning. I felt like I was touching a burning stove. Hurt like all get out allot of sensitivity hurt all over.

Brief Answer:
please dont eat the cereal again

Detailed Answer:
Hello

From your history and description of the events , it is likely that you have developed a severe allergic reaction to something in the cereal and i would strongly advice to not to eat the same cereal again.

It is not possible to pinpoint exactly , as to what you would have developed allergy to , but it can be anything from the constituents of the cereal to the preservatives added in it.

The reaction is called as an anaphylactic shock and is characterized by sudden drop in blood pressure and fainting , people can also develop difficulty in breathing.

Please meet your doctor as you can still develop a late reaction , characterized by wheezing and tightness in your chest. Please dont delay and meet you doctor.

Take care!

Brief Answer:
please meet your doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hello

well , there can be many reasons for the symptoms you experienced and the most likely one is either the food or an insect bite!

Trust me anaphylactic shocks due to insect bite are very common and should not be ignored!!

please meet your doctor , he will do a detailed examination and guide you further.

Another reason for your symptoms can be a heart condition like arrythmias , in which the heart beats very fast or irregularly and most commonly causes fainting like episodes.

Either way it is advisable that you get yourself examined!

Take care

Have been to my ENT, several times, he says it is a gland problem and would remove it but it is a very serious operation that could leave my face paralyzed. Could it be a gland or should I search for another Dr.

please search another doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hello

It is NOT likely that your problem is due to any gland problem and therefore i would like you to meet another doctor , either a physician or cardiologist, they would be in a better position to help you.

Take care!!

Any food starts it the parrotid (spelling??) gland starts throbbing and then the fun starts. It does not do it all the time but when it starts throbbing I know to be careful and it is getting worse the last time my hands burned so bad I stuck them under cold water to try and stop the burning but wrong thing to do made the burn worse and this was along with feet, lips inside mouth burning like on fire. I don't think it was an insect bite. I have the looked at and have met with several Dr. all different opinions but nothing has stopped it

Brief Answer:
please taking vitamin b complex!

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Gland enlargement and throbbing after taking food is likely to be due to a blockage of the gland duct ( parotid duct) , which can either be due to a stone or a stricture (constriction) and will need surgery in most of the cases .

Burning of hands and feet , and dropping in blood pressure CANNOT be due to this type or problem and indicates some other hormonal/endocrine disturbance in your body, most likely in the food passage or pancreas.

In light of this history you have given now , i would like you to meet a surgical endocrinologist , who will examine you and guide you further.

Please dont ignore this and try to get an appointment as soon as possible.

Take care!
