Question: Hi,

I am 35 years male
I am experiencing sore ribs frequently..After some days..they go..and come back.i don't know what's the cause?
Under the arm pits they are most painfull

Is this a cause of concern?
I have a 21 months old daughter..so i carry her most time..is that's the reason why ribs or hurting?

Do i need to get this checked thoroughly?
Few months back i visted a doctor..he simply said it maybe a muscle strain
I have quit smoking a year back..

Brief Answer:
it seems musculoskeletal pain more.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your problem and situation.
In my opinion, by your history, this seems musculoskeletal pain mostly.
And soreness (pain on touch) is seen more in musculoskeletal pain.
Since you were smoker and having recurrent chest pain, it is better to get done ECG and chest x ray to rule out cardiac and pulmonary causes respectively.
If both are normal than musculoskeletal pain is the cause and this is due to carrying of your daughter.
So try to apply warm water pad on painful site. This will give you more relief.
Change of arms for carrying your daughter will also help you.
You can take painkiller and muscle relaxant after consultation of the doctor.
So nothing to worry much about your sore ribs. This seems mostly due to carrying your daughter.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
