Question: i have trouble going to sleep on the count that i feel i have to pee quite often it wakes me up i am 29 years old and have diabetes and high blood pressure i have had two kidney stones in the past 10 years

Brief Answer: Could be due to uncontrolled Diabetes. Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you are known diabetic and have frequency of urination. Polyuria is one of the important symptom of Diabetes . Please consult qualified Diabetologist for clinical assessment and get following basic tests done . 1) Blood sugar on empty stomach and 2 hours after lunch done to see the status of your diabetes 2)HbA1C to see the status of diabetes and level of control of your diabetes. 3) Routine urine tests and urine culture to rule out UTI . 4) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen to rule out Prostatitis. Further treatment will be decided by him of results of these tests and the level of control of your diabetes. Your urinary symptoms are bound to get resolved once your diabetes id well controlled. Brief Answer: No there are no possibility of enlarged prostate Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for follow up. It is rare to have enlarged prostate at the age of 29 years however there can be infection of the prostate (Prostatitis). is the ultrasound a costly procedure i do not have insurance as of now and also i just quit smoking does that have any effect on urinary symptoms for some reason when i wear nicotine patch symptoms are not as bad just as an fyi i have no real pain while urnationg just the fact that i have to go a lot sometimes a lot comes out sometimes not so much but the only feeling i have is a sensation that i have to go which makes falling asleep difficult

Brief Answer: Symptoms are not due quiting smoking. Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for follow up. Urge to pass urine is not due to quitting smoking. Ultrasound scanning is not costly affair it may cost few U.S dollars You can try urinary anti spamodics like Flavoxate for couple of days and if there is no improvements in symptoms you can go foe scanning.
