What Causes Shortness Of Breath And Bleeding While On Clopidogrel?
Question: hello my name is XXXXXXX im 48 years old been a diabetic for 45 years my last a1c was 6.3 ive always kept my suger in tight control my qusetion is last year i had and inertvention and a stent placement and was on the drug effient i had no problems takeing it .just just one month ago i was switched to plavix or genaric of clopidogrel cents then i have been amitteed to the hospital once for bleeding and to the er twice for shortness of breath it seems to me all my problems are do to the med change do i have any other opion i want off of this stuff befor it kills me or i go carzy i need some other opions to take to my dr .

sorry to hear about your problems. It's a known fact that Clopidogrel can cause bleeding. it's continued for upto one to 2 years of sent insertion. After that you will be put back on Aspirin.
The shortness of breath is unlikely to be directly related to clopidogrel. However if bleeding has caused anemia, shortness of breath could be due to that.
stopping clopidogrel is a tough decision now. If you have crossed one year after stent insertion, ,please discuss with your cardiologist about switching over to aspirin.
