What Causes Sharp Pain In Vagina During Intercourse?

default
Posted on Thu, 29 Jan 2015
Question: I have been sexual active for 8 months now. Recently at the beginning of intercourse I have been experiencing sharp pain, as in a blade was cutting the walls of my vagina, after that it goes away and I'm ok until he accidentally pulls out and tries to continue again. the sharp pain of my vagina ripping apart starts mean while he tries to put it in. once it's in I'm fine... I don't know why I have this pain. I'm lubricated and aroused. it's a new problem I have, I used to not experience this pain at all. pains are usually located at the begging or mid way mean while as it goes in me but never deep.
additional information about this: I almost never reach climax during sex, I do mean while masturbating.
I'm new to this app, I'm not sure If I can answer or ask follow up questions, so I'll repost with the follow up question or answer.
I very concerned...

Brief Answer:
Needs an internal evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
It seems that you have some kind of infection / inflammation near the introitus ( vaginal opening ).
Have you never had an orgasm while having intercourse ?
And during masturbation ?
Please clarify .
That then means that there is something wrong with the technique or some nerve problem.
Please ask your partner to help you in achieving an orgasm.
Take it slowly and let him hold his ejaculation till you have an orgasm.
If you still fail , then you need to stimulate yourself and find out your erotic spots, and then urge your partner to help you stimulate those during sex.
Also, intimate foreplay helps.
Regarding the issue of the pain, lubrication is a key factor.
If you are very well sure that you have good lubrication, then you need to see a Specialist ( OB _ GYN ) for an internal evaluation to rule out any physical cause of anorgasmia ( local hormone deficiency , dry walls etc ).
Treatment would consist of couple counselling, sex therapy and local estrogen creams if the exam indicates that as a reason.
Regarding the pain, that too needs an internal evaluation and a vaginal swab to rule out infection.
Typically it sounds like there is an infection there.
When the penis is inserted or re inserted, is the pain only at the vaginal opening, or deeper inside, in the walls?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Take care.

Yes I have never reached climax while having intercourse. on the other hand, I've orgasm during masturbation.
Just in case if it might be an infection how could I have gotten the infection to begin with?
Yes, the pain only happens when he inserts his penis once it's there I have to wait a little until the pain goes away then I'm okay with sex but if he accidentally pulls out and wants to re insert, I will experience pain again even if I'm wet.
The pain to be honest occurs mean while inserting and it's more painful and frequent in the opening vs. deeper inside.

Brief Answer:
Infection can be de novo or from your partner.

Detailed Answer:
If you are able to have an orgasm during masturbation, it means there is something that needs to be modified while having intercourse.
You need to have couple counselling with a sex therapist.
Techniques have to be followed that can make sex more pleasurable for you, and the modifications involve both you and your partner.
Regarding the pain this seems to be vestibulitis.
This needs to be diagnosed after exam by a SPecialist as I said earlier.
The infection could be part of it.
You could have got it from your partner, or it often comes on de novo ( by itself) due to dryness, irritation, excessive use of soaps, cleansers on the area etc.
You need to see a Specialist and confirm the diagnosis.
Treatment consists of various medications.
At home you can try applying a cold ice pack after sex.
Also, taking cool Sitz bath ( immersing yourself in a tub of cool water ) helps, as does hot packs.
Take care.
