What Causes Rash On Groin Area Spreading To Arms And Ankles?
Question: Hi, I've developed rash all over my body (arms, ankles, wrists, groin, perianal, navel, etc). It started in the groin/inner thighs area 2 weeks ago but I applied Mometasone for 2 days and it went away. A few days later, the perianal started to itch terribly and last night was the peak. Rash started to show up on the wrists, elbows, armpits, neck, stomach, navel (basically everywhere). I have been taking 2 benadryl before bed and applied mometasone on 1 side of my body and miconazole on the other side to see what's going on. Please help! I am miserable and won't be able to see my doc until next week!
Brief Answer:
Fungal infection
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query and photographs.
Groin area is mainly involved in fungal infection.
Sometimes fungal infection of groin area can cause severe itching all over body.
This is called as Id reaction.
I usually treat such cases with oral itraconazole and topical anti fungal creams.
You too can try this in consultation with your doctor.
Continue with Benadryl and miconazole, it will decrease itch.
Mometasone will not be of much help .
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
