Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms could be related to anxiety or a thyroid hormone imbalance ( especially considering the fact that you are taking thyroxine).

Have you checked your thyroid hormone levels lately?

Coming to this point, I would recommend consulting with your doctor and performing some tests to investigate for the possible cause underlying your complaints:

- a cardiac ultrasound
- an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring to investigate for possible cardiac arrhythmia
- thyroid hormone levels
- a chest XRay study
- blood electrolytes for electrolyte imbalance
- complete blood count for anemia.

You may need to adjust thyroxine dose in case of thyroid hormone imbalance.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues!

Hope to have been helpful!

Feel free to ask me again, whenever you have any other questions!

Kind regards,

Dr.Iliri

I would recommend as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

Your symptoms are not typical of atrial fibrillation or coronary artery disease.

Some ectopic heart beats are quite normal in every healthy person, during physical exertion or anxiety.

Thyroid hormone imbalance and chronic anemia can trigger this clinical situation too.

Anyway I would recommend performing some tests, just to be sure that everything is OK with your heart:

- an ambulatory 24-48 hours ECG monitoring ( Holter) to investigate for cardiac arrhythmia. This test helps examine your heart rhythm for a prolonged time compared to a resting ECG.

- an exercise cardiac stress test would help investigate for coronary artery disease or cardiac ischemia.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Wishing good health,

My answer as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

Thank you for the additional information!

Considering your past performed tests, I would explain that coronary artery disease can be excluded.

So, there is nothing to worry about any heart attack!

But, all these tests are not specific for cardiac arrhythmia, considering your palpitations.

For this reason, I would recommend performing a Holter monitoring in order to examine your heart rhythm trends for a prolonged time and exclude possible cardiac arrhythmia.

I would also advice performing the above mentioned tests (complete blood count, blood electrolytes, thyroid hormone levels) in order to investigate for any possible metabolic disorder, which could mimic this clinical scenario.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Wishing all the best,

as a cardiologist what could thr buzzing acroas chrst be????

Brief Answer:
My opinion as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

As a cardiologist, I would exclude coronary artery disease, considering your symptoms and also your recent performed cardiac stress test, which has resulted normal.

But a cardiac arrhythmia can not be excluded, although it is usually associated to palpitations or shortness of breath.

Buzzing across the chest is not typical of any cardiac disorder.

Anyway, a 24-48 hours ECG monitoring would help investigate for cardiac arrhythmia.

I would also encourage you to perform thyroid hormone levels, as thyroid dysfunction can trigger this clinical scenario.

If all the above tests result normal, you should consider anxiety as an important cause of your complaints.

Hope to have clarified some of your uncertainties!

Regards,

Dr. Iliri
