What Causes Persistent Pain In The Ribs?

default
Posted on Tue, 3 Oct 2017
Question: Hey doctor,

I have been having this pain on my left side just under my ribs I have attached a picture where but it feels like a stitch and an ache. I have had it on and off for about a month now along with some other symptons including nasuea and bowel upsets. I had an ultrasound done of my lower abodmen, blood tests recently within the 2 weeks and I had an upper endoscoy about two months ago because of my reflux problems which all showed nothing unsual. The pain seems to come on just after eating especially food that have a lot of bread Pizza seems to be the worst or if it has a lot of meat. What exactly could this be and what can I do for the pain I feel as if it has something to do with my pancreas I have attached the images of it from the ultrasound a couple weeks back.

Hello dear

Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com
I have evaluated your query thoroughly with attached images .

* According to the narration most probable reason is gastritis or duodenitis .
Pancreas images are almost fine in almost all sections .

Kindly provide further details so that I can answer your query thoroughly .

1. Pain - frequency , radiation if anywhere , relieving factors .
what about pain if you are on empty stomach .
2. Any alterations in weight , appetite .
3. Bowel movements details .
4. Intake of alcohol , smoking habits .
5. Ultrasound images are of pancreas only , would be better if you attach whole
report with interpretation and lab , endoscopy reports scan copies .

Awaiting for your response .

Thanks for that doctor this advice will really help me it's probably the best I have had so far. In terms of exercise how much should I be doing a day and what type? I used to go to the gym before all of this happened and did strength exercises mainly but I had stopped around when I started to get sick would it be worthwhile getting back into it?

In terms of timing of when I eat would have them out of whack possibly be a cause to the problems that I am having and what do you mean by avoiding rest 3 hours after meals?

Brief Answer:
Follow up guidelines .

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Welcome dear .

* For your case , exercises recommended are light exercises at home only which you can manage with normal stretching , managing back , limbs , XXXXXXX namaskar , deep breathing exercises , YOGA .

- Strenuous exercises are not needed , nor recommended for only this reason
- You can always have them for rest reasons but not at the cost of avoiding
the needed ones .
- And make sure you are not sick , these are normal ailments of gastric upset
it is the matter how you take it make you sick or fit & fine , I suggest to
choose the second option more suitable for you at 20 .

* Timings of eating are to be managed according to the schedule of the work. I would suggest as
- Waking around 5:30 AM
- Time for self in terms of walking , exercise , YOGA at home for 45 minutes
- Light breakfast around 7:00 AM
- Work schedule
- Home made lunch till possible around 1 to 2 PM ( should carry lunch box rather than taking junk outside daily )
- Dinner around 8 PM

* Again these are just tentative work outs as I am not knowing any of your schedules . By avoiding rest 3 hours after meals , I mean to convey that you are not supposed to lie down or sleep upto 3 hours after major meals as lunch or dinner because that will slow down your digestion powers to great extent .

Hope this will help you for sure .
Always feel free to ask for any further guidance .

Regards dear .
