Hi,Dear,Thanks for your query to HCM.

Read and reviewed your facts of query and feel concerned about it.
In view of your doctors opinion, as he has first information on your exact physical findings, I would suggest you to abide by his suggestion.

Still since you are worried as to the cause of the pain in right side, following are the possibilities in your case-

Painful Swelling in right side of abdomen,which is clear up to your ribs-
-indicates hidden Acute on Chronic ?Amoebic ?Giardial Entero-Colitis of the right colon with hepatic flexure
-Post-Choecystectomy Syndrome with Pain at the removed gallbladder needs to be kept in mind;
-Diverticulosis/Diverticulitis accompanied,could be one of the reasons,which would be verified at Colonoscopy/CT Barium Enema Contrast Study of Abdomen, advised from YOUR doctor.

Second Opinion from Surgeon or GI Surgeon / or From GI Endoscopist with Stool and other tests,would be suggested in your case,just to rule out other causes besides above mentioned causes in your case.

Hope this reply would give proper insight as to the various causes which You may need to rule out while doing colonoscopy in your case.

Welcome for any further query in this regard.

Good Day!!
