Will Taking Entocort Cause Headache?
I have lymphocytic colitis and have had a flare up starting Thursday with approximately 10 bouts of diarrhea. Over the weekend I experienced abdominal pain that radiated around to my back so severe that I ended up taking a Vicodin 7.5mg (left over from an injury last year) to help allieviate the pain. I have not experienced pain like this before with this condition. Since then I have had continued cramping and pain, bloating but no diarrhea. My appetite is poor, and when I do eat I am full after a few bites. I am on Entocort still (since Feb) but have tapered down to 6mg a day. The only thing that may be of import is that since last Dec I have been experiencing headaches also, the most recent has been ongoing since the end of August. MRI/MRA of the brain was negative. I am wondering if I should contact my GI doctor or if this is to be expected? I am 39 years old, 5 9 and 138 pounds. Med hx: asthma, reynauds in my Bilat feet, endometriosis, migraines and colitis. I am a RN but really only have the knowledge from my doctor and online since there isn t any info on this type of colitis in any of my school books. Thanks

Entocort (budesonide) is a medication used to treat inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. It is a corticosteroid and can cause various side effects, including headaches. However, headache is not a commonly reported side effect of Entocort.
Your symptoms of abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, and loss of appetite could be related to your lymphocytic colitis flare-up. It is not uncommon to have these symptoms during a flare-up, but it is important to contact your GI doctor to discuss your symptoms and any concerns you may have. Your doctor may want to adjust your medication dosage or try a different treatment approach.
As for your headaches, since your MRI/MRA of the brain was negative, your headaches may be related to your migraines or another underlying condition. It is recommended to discuss your headaches with your primary care physician or a neurologist for further evaluation and management.
