What Causes Pain In Temple?

default
Posted on Thu, 5 Feb 2015
Question: About three weeks ago, I woke up one morning with a strong pain i my left temple. It came and went during the day at a lower pain level, but increased when I went to bed. I saw my doctor about it within the next week, and he sent me to the hospital to get a CT scan of my brain. That showed no evidence of a tumor, and after about a week, the pain got much less and eventually disappeared for a few days; however it has come back as strong as ever and more continuous. My doctor cannot see me for 2-3 weeks. What do you suggest?

Brief Answer:
Tension Headaches

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

i read your question and i understand your concern. Headaches of non throbbing nature with clear CT scans are usually tension headaches and are stress induced most of the time.

Most headaches are tension headaches. These headaches tend to happen again and again, especially if you are under stress. They are not usually a sign of something serious. But they can be very painful and hard to live with.

Tension headaches can last from 30 minutes to 7 days.

If you have a headache on 15 or more days each month over a 3-month period, you may have chronic tension headaches. This type of headache can lead to stress and depression, which in turn can lead to more headaches.

About 4 out of every 100 people in the United States get chronic tension headaches so you are not alone in this.

take some acetaminophen and rest for a while. It shall resolve. Avoid routine disturbances and make a proper routine for sleep , eating and exercise.

Many options and Various modalities are used in the treatment of tension headaches. These include hot or cold packs, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, improvement of posture, trigger point injections, occipital nerve blocks, stretching, and relaxation techniques.

Regular exercise, stretching, balanced meals, and adequate sleep may be part of a headache treatment program

Relaxation techniques such as meditation are effective for chronic headaches as measured by headache parameters. Patients with chronic headaches have been showed to have low levels of cortisol that normalized with the practice of meditation over time.

Acupressure and reflexology also helps in the management of these headaches.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
