Posted on Tue, 27 Jun 2017
Question: i submitted some information a week ago and my symptoms remain the same. I have a gnawing pain throughout the day on my lower, lower abdomen. just right above my genitals. it spreads out accross the entire abdomen but the pain is not that bad. on a scal from 1-10 (10 being very painful; its at a 4) but it is worrying me. The pain comes after i eat but not immediately after i eat. Maybe like 30 minutes after. my grandfather died of colon cancer and i am concerned that this is what i have. I am nauseated at times but not that bad. it is small sharp pains. What could this be? i am a very stressful person and had been managing my stress through jogging but havent been consistent. i have alot going on righ tnow so maybe IBS? my worrying is making it worse. im sure...

Brief Answer:
Management of stress and dietary changes can help

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic

Since your pain is associated with food intake it has a likely association with Irritable bowel syndrome and stress. Managing stress and relaxation techniques can help with the pain. You can try daily exercise, meditation etc. Continue Psyllium and include diet rich in probiotics. Limiting diary and including low fat diet can also help.

Your symptoms are highly unlikely to be due to colon cancer. However, I would like to add that since you have a family history of colon cancer, it is important to undergo Colonoscopic evaluation every 10 years after age 40. If you haven't already, please follow up with your primary care provider for scheduling colonoscopy.

Since you are on Farxiga, I also recommend getting a urine analysis done. People on Farxiga have increased incidence of Urinary tract infection, which can present with lower abdominal pain.

Hope this answers your question
