What Causes Low Pulse Pressure While Standing?

default
Posted on Mon, 4 Sep 2017
Question: Hello my name is XXXX im a female 24 5.2ft 120 pounds. I'm concerned about my PULSE PRESSURE ( not blood pressure but the pulse pressure) it tends to be low. Especially on standing. For example sitting pulse would be 100/74 while standing 105/86 . I'm wondering why I have these low pulse pressure numbers at times. I also feel more fatigued than usual and at times dizzy.
Please let me know what you think . I have had. Stress test , echo , and several ekg tests that appear normal . However these test were done 3 months ago and I've noticed the pulse pressure dropping more frequently since .

Hello XXXXXXX

After going through the medical details provided by you I would like to tell you that PULSE PRESSURE is basically the difference between the Systolic and the Diastolic blood pressure (for eg. If the blood pressure is 120/80 mmhg the Pulse pressure in this case will be 40 mmhg).

The normal or the ideal pulse pressure ranges between 30 to 50 mmhg.

Now you tell are you calculating your pulse pressure in this way? From the readings which you are mentioning it seems you are describing your blood pressure.

Kindly clarify

Kind Regards

Brief Answer:
No your heart is alright

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the feedback.

The report which you have uploaded is not complete it's just one page kindly upload the full report along with Ecg as well as resting echo report.

You feel dizzy and fatigued because your blood pressure is constantly towards the lower side which is quite common in young females and can also be due to inadequate and improper diet as well as anaemia.

I would like to suggest you to get one Complete blood count done for anaemia evaluation and more importantly it's highly advisable that you should improve your diet pattern.

Drink plenty of water daily, increase a bit of salt intake in daily diet and whenever you feel dizzy have a bar of dark chocolate or drink a cup of coffee and you will surely be relieved.

I hope this information will answer your query and will guide you properly.

Kind regards
Dr Bhanu partap
