Primary and secondary causes are there.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
There are two types of causes which lead to lowered immune system.
Primary causes are mostly genetic defect. Selective immune deficiency or combine variables immune deficiency, x linked immune deficiency are some of the cause, but mostly primary immune deficiency seen in pediatric population.

In adult most of the causes are secondary.
Malnutrition is the most common cause.
AIDS, tuberculosis, immunosuppressive drugs, cytotoxic drugs, renal disease, nephrotic syndrome are the other common causes of lowered immunity.
