Brief Answer:
Need relaxation exercises

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:
1. Anxiety is the most common cause of palpitations.
2. As you doctor has possibly evaluated possible heart problems, you do not have any arrhythmia (which can cause palpitations) and the palpitations felt are possibly harmless.
3. Avoiding triggers that cause palpitations is the best way around. You would need to
a. reduce anxiety and stress - relaxation exercises, yoga and relaxation therapy will be helpful.
b. avoid or limit stimulants like coffee, caffeinated products, nicotine and alcohol
c. avoid stimulants medications, particularly in cough and cold medicines.
d. Have good hydration and maintain normal blood pressure.

If still not reduced, further evaluation for electrolytes (potassium, magnesium and calcium levels), anemia and hyperthyroidism may be necessary.

No medications are advisable, unless specific pathology is identified, as it could affect cardiac function and hence blood pressure.

Hope it helps.

Brief Answer:
Transmission of heart sounds through bed possibly.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking again.

Any recent loss of weight could have caused fat loss (thinning of chest wall, less muscle, less fat) and while sleeping on left side, the feeling would be much higher.

Drinking more than adequate water and correction of anemia should help. Also need to look into stop taking alcohol or any caffeinated products after 4 pm. Both of this will reduce heart rate and the feeling would be less.

Also use a soft pillow, so that neck is properly aligned. Extra thick soft pillow support below the left chest could be helpful. The heart beat sounds are being transmitted through the chest wall and the bed. Its normal, just like you keep your hand over chest and feel the heart beat. Avoid left chest, touching the bed and the sounds should reduce.

Hope it helps.
