Brief Answer: Detailed answer below. Detailed Answer: Hello and welcome to HCM, I understand that her periods come 1st of month and comes 4-5 days ago. However I am not sure when her last period was. Also when was she expecting a period this month, was it 4-5 days ago that is on 26th march? Contraceptive history if any and number of previous pregnancies if any would be helpful. If the period was due 26 march, it means that she has missed a period for about 6 days. If you have not used any contraception then the first reason for a missed period is pregnancy. So a pregnancy test must be done 7-10 days after the missed period using the first morning urine sample for best results. If this is negative other reasons for missed periods are: 1. stress: commonest cause periods tend to get delayed but come back after some time spontaneously. Usually a transient phenomenon. 2. Hormonal imbalances like thyroid and prolactin. Also common and need blood tests for determining levels. 3. Ovarian cysts: lead to local and systemic hormonal disturbances and cause irregular periods. 4. severe vigorous exercise Other rare causes include premature menopause and many more but it is very early to say that these may be the reason for missed periods. So as of now, just get a pregnancy test done after 10 days of missed period [ even if contraceptive is used as this is the initial step in every women with missed period]. If it is negative wait for a few more days [ 10-14]. Meanwhile she may use tablet devery 10 mg twice a day for 3 days and see if periods come within 7 days after stopping devery. [If there is a pregnancy, devery will not induce periods] If still no periods you must see a doctor and get an examination for the cause. Do not worry, these are common causes. Hope this satisfies your query. Thanks for using HCM. Feel free to ask any more questions that you may have. Dr Madhuri Bagde Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist
