What Causes Itching And Burning Sensation Between Legs And Anus?

default
Posted on Tue, 12 Apr 2016
Question: I have been experiencing Itching and some mild burning between my legs and anus for some time now. I have tried to look at it and it seems to be reddish in colour. My anus usually itches after i have a bowel movement and at night. Sometimes it becomes quite unbearable. I have not noticed any blood in my stool. The itching between my legs might be caused by the long underwear I wear during the day. The Anal itching has been prevalent for quite some time now.

Brief Answer:
Need dermatologist review, anti fungals and review for hemmorhoids

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic!

First of all, it is sad to know what you had gone through. Based on the history you have shared, it can be due to fungal infection due to long standing underwear usage and sweat glands over activity followed by contamination by fungal or other microbial growth. You need to get it reviewed by a dermatologist in detail and using topical clotrimazole and anti histamines like cetrizine for itching and anti inflammatory drugs like acetaminophen for pain or inflammation will be helpful. That will also be helpful to rule out pinworm infestation and scotch tape test if needed or suggested by dermatologist. However before looking for other skin manifestations get examined by your GP for hemorrhoids if any. The burning or itching after bowel movement can also be due to that so detailed pet rectal examination can be helpful. Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.

Brief Answer:
You can use it but with anti fungal cover

Detailed Answer:
Hi! The cream preparation that you have mentioned contains steroid and an antibiotic. Steroid can be good with inflammation and antibiotic can cover super infection but anti fungal cover is needed probabaly. You can add clotrimazole alongwith it for a better coverage after discussing with your GP but do consult a dermatologist if the lesion increases in severity. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Regards.
