What Causes Irritation In The Penis After Unprotected Sex?

default
Posted on Tue, 21 Mar 2017
Question: Hi,
I had unprotected sex over 90 days ago (twice with a girl that I dated for a short period of time). Since that time, I’ve had mild symptoms; tip of my penis being slightly inflamed, some itching in the genital area (mostly in the crease where my leg meets the genital area on both sides), and maybe a more sore than usual lower back (tailbone area). These symptoms have been there in varying degree every day since. I actually did some manscaping right around the same time that these symptoms started, so not sure if that’s what triggered the ongoing discomfort. Anyways, I ordered a test for every STD from STDExpress (which included the Quest – HSV 1/2 IGG,TYPE SPECIFIC AB HERPESELECT) at around week 3 after the last possible exposure. That was negative for everything. I then waited until 12 weeks (just last week) since the exposure and ordered the same tests from STDExpress. Again, the results were negative (no value, just <0.90). Am I at a point where I should let this go? The very first test showed that I had neither Herpes and I’ve read that in my case, I should show a positive more quickly than most. I should also say that I’ve been examined by my urologist & dermatologist and both found nothing of interest. I’ve never had any blisters or anything that looked unusual. I appreciate your help.

Brief Answer:
It is reassuring that STD tests are negative

Detailed Answer:
Hello! I have been through your question.

Related your concern and based on your sexual history I think it is a good news that you are negative for all STD tests. Please could you tell me, that with all STD tests you mean included Chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, hiv, HSV , hepatitis as I know?

According my experience this could be just an yeast infection, that is considering as well as STI. Penile yeast infections may be caused by sexual intercourse with someone who has a yeast infection, or by poor hygiene.
But don't worry this is treatable.

Usually in this situation I prescribe topical antifungal ointments or creams (miconazole, clotrimazole) and these are enough to clear up an infection.
Furthermore I suggest to speak with infectious diseases specialist to get the prompt adequate treatment.

I hope my answer helps you.
I wish you a quick recovery.

Yes, I was tested for all STDs, first at 2-3 weeks post exposure and then again at 12 weeks (all negative). Would the tailbone pain normally be related to any of this?

Brief Answer:
Hello again! Thanks writing me back.

Detailed Answer:
According your tailbone pain I think is not related to any of this.
Usually a tailbone might have started hurting after something as simple as sitting on a hard bench or other uncomfortable surface for a long period of time, if you are overweight, as well the falls and other traumas can bruise, dislocate, or break your tailbone.

I hope my answer helps you.
I wish you a quick recovery.
