default
Posted on Sat, 1 Aug 2015
Question: During a hot flash my chest, neck and head get tense and tight. I have had all the heart tests. Nothing there. Also it is sometimes difficult to breathe and my sinuses feel full although not with mucus. What might cause this?

Brief Answer:
needs evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

Hot flashes are known to cause atypical symptoms like extreme displeasure, chest pain, breathlessness, sweating and palpitation ( feeling of ones own heart beat). However the symptoms needs further evaluation. Here is how you should go about it

1. I recommend that you get thread mill test done ( if not already done)
2. I would also like you to get some of the hormones tested especially thyroid function, serum cortisol , Vit d level and also your anemia status
3. if the symptoms still persists and there is no apparent cause then I recommend you to get hormone replacement therapy

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

Regards
