Brief Answer:
Following answer to your query.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

The feeling of upper chest hollow is related to chest discomfort and if it's of new onset it may be a sign of acute coronary syndrome (which is an emergency situation). Can you specify for how long do you feel this way?

If your symptoms persist or become worse you should go immediately to ER otherwise you should contact your cardiologist for further examinations.

If you were my patient i would recommend to do the following examinations to find out what is causing your symptoms:
- Blood work including cardiac enzymes.
- ECG
- Cardiac ECHO
- Stress test
- Chest x ray
- Abdominal ultrasound

Hope this was of help!
Wish you health!

Thank you. I have some coronary problems + lung problems. This happens all along with the hollow feeling in my chest. while doing laundry ,making the bed, seems to make my breathing worse with the hollow feeling....I do have a mild weak left heart muscle. found this out in December 2014. My ejection fraction is 50.....will keep check on this and go to the ER if it gets worse. thanks so very much for your time!
