Brief Answer: needs blood tests Detailed Answer: Hi Thanks for writing to health care magic Cold is usually from viral infection. However as your kid has already had fever for 5 days now, your doctor has already prescribed taxim o which is an antibiotic. Even it was bacterial this antibiotic should have helped him. But if the fever is persistent , your son needs more evaluation including blood tests to rule out other infections like typhoid, malaria , etc. I recommend that he gets back to the treating doctor who can order relevant blood investigations. Test results will guide us towards the next course of treatment. Continue paracetamol and meftal and go for blood tests. Wishing your son speedy recovery. Dr Arun
