What Causes Heavy Vaginal Bleeding Along With Spotting?
Question: Hello,
This is for my wife
She is having her periods for the last 6 days and have been having spotting for the last 12 days along with loose motion. Could you advice on when she should be cautios?
The bleeding is very heavy and also we are planning to make a travel ( 20+ hours flight ) tomorrow
Can you suggest some medicine to temporarily bring this down and get some relief?

Hello,
Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments:
1) Heavy bleeding with spotting may be due to hormonal imbalance, endometrial or cervical polyp, PID or pelvic infection, uterine fibroid or adenomyosis etc.
I suggest her to undergo pelvic ultrasound scan, blood Hb%, complete blood count and hormone tests to confirm the diagnosis. In that case, you should consult with her gynecologist for proper management.
2) For temporary purpose, I can suggest following things:
a) TRANEXAMIC ACID group of drug for 3 to 5 days to arrest bleeding.
b) Combined Ofloxacin and Ornidazole group of drugs for loose motion. These are prescribed medication.
c) Maintain genital hygiene properly. Eat easy digestible food (home based).
d) Drink ORS (Oral Rehydration Salt) or Electral powder mixed water (1 lit) several times in 24 hr.
e) Multivitamin and Iron supplements are required for complete recovery.
