What Causes Headache, Cough, Excess Mucus In The Throat, Chest Congestion And Dizziness?

Question: I have a cold/flu. Have a headache, coughing, spitting up mucous, congested in chest and sinuses and a little dizzy. It seems to be getting worse(longer coughing spells). It started last Monday and has added a new symptoms. Can you call in some meds for me?

I have gone carefully through the details and understand your concern. Most often such symptoms are due to viral infections and antibiotics are ineffective in such cases. Antibiotics would not help and irrespective of treatment it usually spontaneously resolves in 5-7 days.

You need to take steam inhalation to your child. It helps in reducing the congestion. Water vapor will reach deep inside and would help in diluting the cough and thus would provide relief. Take some antiallergic like cetirizine once daily for next few days. Take paracetamol or acetaminophen for headache.

Hopefully recovery will occur in a week or so.
