What Causes Frequent Urination In Small Volumes?

default
Posted on Wed, 31 Dec 2014
Question: I'm a 72-yr old, overweight male. Much too often, when I urinate, I end up urinating down the front of my trousers. I think the logical solution is for me to sit down when I urinate. Can you suggest any other options?
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
THis is caused by benigh prostate hypertrophy(enlarged prostate)!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these complaints that you have reported. They are caused by an enlarged prostate. This manifest with weak urine stream, frequent urination in small volumes, difficulties to start urination and feeling of bladder not being fully emptied after urination and urine dribbling at the end.

Managing this consist in medications to improve urine flow. For this, you would need to be examined by a urologist. However, if sitting down resolves the problem and you have no other worries, I will suggest that you do so. Sitting down or standing upright to urinate is for convenience and not by sex as many think and believe.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
