Brief Answer:
Some exams are needed.

Detailed Answer:
When I see someone like you in my practice, I typically order the following blood tests in addition to a detailed physical examination:

CBC (Complete Blood Count, also known as Hemogram; includes Hemoglobin, WBC and Platelet counts)
Electrolytes (Sodium and Potassium in particular)
HbA1c (Glycosylated Hemoglobin)
Liver function tests (SGOT , SGPT, Albumin, Bilirubin, Alkaline Phosphatase)
Kidney function tests (BUN, Creatinine)
TSH (checks your thyroid)
Free T4 (this too checks your thyroid)
25 hydroxy Vitamin D levels (ideal range 40 to 60 ng/ml = 100 to 150 nmol/liter)
Calcium
Testosterone level.

None of these tests require any fasting and can be done at any time of the day.
Do not hesitate to attach the results so i can suggest you further.

Dr.Mirjeta

If I was also having dull intermittent shots of discomfort just below the right pectoral muscle would that lead to different possible diagnosis, I thought it was just inner costal strain?

Brief Answer:
Hello

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
From you description the intercostal pain is not related to hot flushes, probably a gall bladder stone causes it ( if it is at the lower ribs). An abdominal ultrasound would be of help.
If it is in an upper level a detailed physical examination is needed.

Dr.Mirjeta
