What Causes Fatigue In A Person With Parkinson's Disease?

Question: i have parkinsons disease for 14 years but lately i am totally fatigued,especiallly after 4. i had an mri and it showed minimam chronic microvascular ischemic changes. could that be why?

Hello and thank you for your question.
It is not likely that the microvascular changes are causing the fatigue. I see that you have bipolar disorder and sometimes medications for that condition can cause fatigue. Also you may need higher doses of medications for parkinson's disease. If you are depressed that can cause fatigue. Please discuss this with your doctor and make sure that your thyroid, vitamin B12, vitamin D and blood counts are checked as all of these could be causing fatigue if they are not normal. Take a multivitamin daily and extra vitamin C. Get plenty of sleep and if you do not find an answer, ask your doctor about sleep apnea as that is a common cause of daytime fatigue.
