Posted on Tue, 17 Nov 2015
Question: Does pancreatic cancer cause night sweats? If so, why?

Also, my primary care doctor said that my pancreatic enzymes were normal and my abdominal ultrasound was normal, could there still be a tumor on my pancreas that he could not see due to gas?

Brief Answer:
possible but pancreas cancer is rare

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
Normal pancreatic enzymes and normal ultrasound can be beginning of work up and this is good sign but it doesnt rule out pancreatic cancer. Ultrasound is nonspecific since pancreas is not easily visualized. However, in abdominal pain, pancreatic cancer is last thing to think of. there are many other benign conditions that cause it. Pancreas issues go with pain radiating to back, loss of weight, jaundice and loss of apetite. If you have irrational fear, then you can do pancreatic cancer marker CA 19-9 and computer tomography. This would be more specific. Wish you good health. Regards

Brief Answer:
this is not typical

Detailed Answer:
hi.
Nights sweats are not typical symptom of pancrea's diseases including cancer. This is a nonspecific sign and can be seen in some serious diagnosis such as lymphoma but more commonly this is sign of hormonal imbalance, anxiety, diabetes or high blood pressure
