What Causes Dizziness When Hungry And Abdominal Pain After Eating?

Question: Hello Doc,

I have been having problems with my stomach for about two weeks now. It started with my discomfort and then progressed to churning, hunger and now pain. During the beginning stages I noticed I would get dizzy when I was hungry. I thought it may be diabetes related although I have not been diagnosed but it does run in my family. I decided to take Nexium OTC. I had an A1C taken but it came back normal. It has been helping somewhat but I am still getting stomach pains. Sometimes as soon as I eat I feel the pain. Usually, the morning time is the only time I don't feel pain, all i feel is just dullness in my stomach. Once I drink my nexium with water, pain usually begins with my stomach feeling upset and making sounds. The dizziness has stopped since taking Nexium but now I am having stomach pains and the same feelings of upset stomach. I have been taking Nexium for about a week. My stool has been somewhat normal. I have had normal colored stool. I have also had pale colored stool that floats and greasy looking at times. Tis fluctuates. With this said, I have two questions: What would cause my dizziness when I would get very hungry as if I had not eaten anything? 2. Should I rule out Panceratic cancer at my age?

Brief Answer:
Chronic pancreatitis is the likely cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you..

Pale and greasy looking stools that floats in water indicates excess fat in it. This could indicate fat malabsorption or excess fat in diet.
With a history of abdominal pain after eating, all these point towards chronic pancreatitis.
A CT scan of the abdomen may be done for confirmation.
The next less likely cause is peptic ulcer disease. An upper GI endoscopy may be done to see if you have any ulcer.

Pancreatic cancer is unlikely especially for your age.

As far as the dizziness when you are hungry is concerned, it might be due to hypoglycemia.

I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
