What Causes Dizziness, Numbness In Arms, Legs And Shortness Of Breath?

default
Posted on Tue, 16 Aug 2016
Question: Getting dizzy, numb on the arms and legs, having shortness of breath, hard to walk more tHan 40 yards when legs feel heavy to use. Must sit or lie down for relief. Mri on neck and brain came out ok. Blood work, picked up on high cholesterol and high triglycerides ( 222, 265mg). Chest x rays, nothing. Two Tread mill tests, heart checked out ok but I did have dizziness and shortness of breath after both tests. I feel alot of discomfort like stiffness, no pain, on the left side of my chest, from the collar bone down to the end of the rib cage. Raising my left arm, twisting my body to the left, or bending down causes symptoms to start, including walking.any kind of move that causes pressure on the left side of my torso causes the symptoms. Something blocked or swollen
On that side is causing my dilemma. I appreciate the feedback.thank you.

Brief Answer:
You need to walk regularly in the morning.

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone very carefully through your query and understand your concerns. It was apparent that you could have cervical spondylosis but an MRI of neck has already been done to exclude that. You have already been detected to have raised blood lipids. So, the next line of treatment would be to go for an echocardiogram.

The main solution seems to be in exercising daily. You need to walk briskly regularly in the morning. That will gradually train your heart to be able to do more work and therefore the exhausion and shortness of breath will reduce. You also need to visit a physical therapist who can demonstrate to you the exact exercises that would be helpful for you.

I need to know if your bowel habits are proper. I would also be glad if you describe the exact location of the 'pressure on left side of torso'.

Thank you for the feedback. I'm having an echocardiogram done today. The discomfort is near the left area of the breastbone, forming like a question mark pattern down to the rib cage. Also flexing my left chest muscle, really causes the symptoms to start, causing my left arm to numb. Sitting Down, for a long time actually also starts the symptoms, like pressure pushing up against my stomach. BowEl movements also cause the symptoms, minor though. But again, my body tells me every day the problem is on the left side.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be due to sluggishness of bowel movements.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns.
The discomfort near the left of the sternum (breast bone) could be due to GERD. in such a case you can benefit from taking omeprazole once daily before breakfast. The stomach is slightly towards the left and hence the pain is in the left.. Also take small but frequent meals. Take plenty of green leafy vegetables and also take curd or yogurt daily. Try to reduce stress as it aggravates GERD. You can benefit from yoga and meditation.

Let me know if there is anything specific that I could help you with.

Thank you for responding. I'll begin yoga today as well as omeprozal. Hopefully it works. Just to inform you, I didn't have an ultra sound on the heart, it was on the abdomen. Stomach, pancreas , and kidney checked. Waiting on results.
