Question: I am 39, I am 3 weeks late but definitely not pregnant. I took 6 test. AND have for children definitely know how I feel when I'm pregnant. Have been experiencing hot flashes for the last 3 months and night sweats. AND horrible nightmares and very strange dreams. Including coming across broken eggs in a nest. THIS has been a repeated dream. PROBABLY irrelevant. But it's one symptom of many. Weight gain. A lot of anxiety and some depression between. I have never had thi's kind of anxiety before. What is really going on. I'm not feeling normal. MaDE an appointment for doc. Soonest I can be seen is December. CAN you offer any advice?? Need some peace of mind. Thank you

Brief Answer:
It is easy to exclude premenopause period.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Sorry to learn about your situation.

As you may know, the menstrual cycle is very sensitive to psychological status and in many cases, the delay is psychological.

Often the menopause age is inherited by the mother, so you are supposed to enter the menopause at your mother's age (very probably).

Please calm yourself and get done the below examinations to exclude a pre-menopausal period and to be convinced that everything's normal;

-FSH
-Estradiol
-Inhibin B

If all of the above mentioned tests are within the normal ranges then no reason for panic.

If you are planning a pregnancy, then the ovarian reserve should be estimated by adding the anti-mullerian hormone to the above mentioned tests.

Looking forward to hearing from you after the above results. Any further queries, do let me know.
Wishing you good health!

Kind Regards,
Dr. Mirjeta
